Appointments: Because time is precious this clinic pioneered the appointment system to the benefit of all. Please phone in advance to make an appointment. However, emergencies will always be seen as soon as possible.
Operations: Elective procedures (e.g. neutering, dentistry etc) are done during the day Monday – Friday by appointment. Patients are admitted early in the morning and are discharged later the same day. This provides ample time for them to recover from the tranquilizer or anaesthetic used. Emergency procedures are done as early as is safely possible.
House Calls: Home visits are sometimes necessary or for the owner’s convenience. These are time-consuming and difficult for the veterinarian who will not always have the full range of restraint and treatment with him. However, in the event of an emergency it would be safer and more therapeutic for you to bring your animal to the clinic. Please phone to warn us that you are on your way so that we may be prepared.
After House Emergencies: The demands on the single veterinarian in private practice are extremely arduous and when combined with after hours calls can render even the best and most caring vet incapable of functioning to the standard normally expected.
Ideally every client would want to be seen at the clinic where they and their pet are known. Providing the staff for these antisocial hours is prohibitively expensive.
Therefore we use the services of the After Hours Animal Clinic at the Cape Animal Medical Centre, 78 Rosmead Avenue, Kenilworth (021) 674 0034. They are open all weekends, public holidays but week days from 19:00 – 07:00. They inform us daily of all clients seen by their staff and what treatment was administered to warn us. Please note that treatment must be paid for immediately.
Payment: We require payment at the end of each consultation or procedure. We are happy to provide an estimate of cost when requested. To help prevent financial worries we recommend pet health insurance (Petsure).
Speciality Pet food: We are stockists of "Hill's", "Iams", "Eukanuba", "Vets Choice" and "Royal Canin."
