Dr Bruce Kinghorn | Dr Kerry Easson | Dr Chané Nel | Sr Nicole Basel |
Dr Bruce Kinghorn, the practice principal qualified in 1990 from the University Of Pretoria. He spent two years practising in a veterinary hospital in Cape Town where he gained valuable experience in small animal surgery. In 1994 Dr Bruce moved to Durban where he joined RinaldoRiverside Vet. In 1996 he took over the practice. Dr Bruce has two lovely daughters, Emma and Robyn. In his spare time he is a triathlon fanatic and has also completed a few Comrades Maratons and Iron Man events. | Dr Kerry Easson started at RinaldoRiverside Veterinary Clinic in December 2001 after completing her vet studies at Onderstepoort. She has always dreamt of becoming a vet. As a child, Dr Kerry's life was filled with various critters, ranging from mice to a horse. At home Dr Kerry has a menagerie of lizards, spiders, guinea pigs, doves, pigeons and chickens. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising, reading, gardening, walking the dogs and spending time with friends and family. | Dr Chane Nel joined us in 2023 after qualifying in 2021 and completing a year of community service in the Lowveld. She and her husband have two cats, a pet snake and a collection of aquatic creatures. Her philosophy is, "You can never go wrong with a good book and a steaming cup of coffee, but a hike with the sun on my back and a scenic view is always a great alternative". Dr Chane loves spending time at the local farmer's market or looking for hidden restaurant gems. | Sr Nicole Basel was born in Vanderbijlpark. She qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2017 and moved to Durban in 2019 to join the RinaldoRiverside Vet team. Sr Nicole has always dreamt of working with animals and her long-term dream is to get involved with wildlife rehabilitation. Sr Nicole shares her flat with her cat, Shadow, and her two hamsters, Possum and Pipsqueek. In her free time, she crochets, does other crafts and enjoys baking. |

Atandiwe Anita Mnyanda has been part of our team since July 2023 as an Animal Health Technician. She qualified in 2020 from Tsolo Agriculture and Rural Development Institute in her home town in the Eastern Cape. In her spare time, she enjoys a good workout session and loves to unwind with a movie. |
Nikki de Freitas joined RinaldoRiverside Veterinary Clinic in February 2012 as practice manager. She is responsible for all of the administrative duties at the practice and is always keen to lend a helping hand in any other area she can assist in. Nikki has always had a love for animals and in December 2013 she opened the PAWsitive Puppy School, which she runs from La Lucia Vet. Her love for animals is apparent at home where she has a menagerie of pets. In her spare time she enjoys keeping fit and spending time with her 3 boys. |
Amanda Kinghorn joined the RinaldoRiverside team in 2018. In her spare time she is involved with swimming and KZN swimming officials. She is a FINA Open Water Swimming Certified judge. Her daughters have inherited her love for the water and both of them have competed at national level. |
Shaelene started her working life as a paramedic in Nelspruit for 5 years. After moving to Durban in 2019, she joined our team and eventually joined RinaldoRiverside Vet in 2021 as a receptionist. which enabled her to experience the medical field but with animals. Shaelene has a passion for both animals and people. She has 3 dogs and 2 birds of her own and in her spare time she is often found offering her assistance to any human or animal in need. |

Belinda Hammond | Selby Msweli | Nkosi Shezi | Tom Hlophe |
Belinda Hammonid is a born and breed Umhlanga local. She started her working life in the hotel industry where her love of working with people grew. In 2021, Belinda joined our team. She will welcome you with her vibrant, chatty personality either on the phone or in reception. Her son, Mat, is her pride and joy. Her non-talking companions consist of 3 rescue dogs, a horse and 4 birds. In her spare time, she can be found at the stables riding her horse or enjoying time with the family. |
Selby started working at La Lucia Vet in 1987 and recently moved to its sister practice, RinaldoRiverside Vet. He took an interest in animals at a very young age and thoroughly enjoys working with and being around them. He assists with the behind-the-scenes activities, making sure the hospital and cages are always clean and providing the vet assistance with the patients. Selby is the father of 5 children and in his spare time, he enjoys photography. |
Nkosi has been working at RinaldoRiverside Vet since 2015. He enjoys all aspects of the veterinary field and he can normally be found assisting in consults and theatre, which he finds very interesting. In his spare time, Nkosi enjoys spending time with his friends and family. |
Tom Hlophe has been working in the animal field since 2001 and joined us in 2007. He has always had a passion for animals and his favourite animal is a dog, as they are loyal and trusting and they don’t stay cross with you for long after he has assisted in treating them. Tom is the father of 6 children and he also has 3 dogs, 5 goats and 2 cows at home. In his spare time, Tom enjoys Zulu dancing and stick fighting. |

Divika Moodley | |||
Devika Moodley joined our team in June 2024. She is a fun-loving person who enjoys both animals and people. In her spare time, Devika enjoys nature, arts and crafts markets and watching Koi shows. Amongst the mini zoo she has at home, Devika has a very mischievous hamster named Harry. |
Practice Cats

Gracie and Amelia Gracie and Amelia both came to us as stray cats - Amelia in 2013 and Gracie in 2022. Gracie is the grey tabby cat. She is an outside girl who loves to spend her time hiding away in the garden. Amelia, on the other hand, is the calico voluptuous cat who loves sitting on clients' laps while they are waiting in reception. She will often be found 'washing' a client's arm in delight or be cuddled up on her bed in one of the consult rooms. |
